Erdogan: We will probably be one of the security guarantors in Ukraine

The President of Turkey announced that his country may be one of the guarantors of security in Ukraine.

"We may be one of the guarantors of Ukraine's security," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was quoted as saying by Russia Today. We have a positive view on this issue, but the details need to be clarified.

The remarks come after Britain said it was not ready to provide security guarantees for Ukraine.

"We are very pleased to play a role in ending the war in Ukraine, because Turkey is a country that is trusted by both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky," he said.

"We are determined to hold a meeting between Putin and Zelensky and we will tell them that our goal is to get them together as soon as possible," Erdogan said. We hope to be able to set a date for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky, and we are ready to host a meeting at the level of prime ministers. Russia's decision to reduce its operations around Kiev and Chernihiv is crucial.
