Humanitarian ceasefire declared in Mariupol / Russia, Ukraine to resume talks tomorrow

 Reuters quoted a Ukrainian negotiator as saying that peace talks with Russia would resume online tomorrow, Friday, April 1st.

 


This came after Russia announced a ceasefire in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol on Wednesday evening to evacuate civilians, noting that the move would help create a humanitarian corridor in the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye.

According to the decision, a humanitarian ceasefire was declared in the city of Mariupol on Thursday to evacuate civilians.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the move would be carried out with the direct participation of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

 A senior Pentagon official said Wednesday that Russian forces had begun withdrawing from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant on February 24.
